Nairobi’s petrol prices climbed to KSh 226.96 per litre as the East African Petroleum Refiners Association warned of further increases. The rise follows disruptions in fuel supply linked to tensions in the Middle East. EPRA director Edward Mwirigi said authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Fuel prices in Nairobi have risen steadily over the past month, driven by geopolitical instability affecting regional oil supplies. Mwirigi noted that the situation could worsen if supply issues persist. The current price reflects a 10% increase from the previous month.
This follows a series of supply chain disruptions in East Africa, with Kenya relying heavily on imports from the Gulf. The Nairobi market has seen increased volatility as global oil prices fluctuate. The EPRA’s warning comes amid growing pressure on local economies to manage rising transportation costs.
