Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna faces growing scrutiny over his presidential ambitions as political analyst Phelix Odiwuor, known as Jalang’o, predicts he will finish fourth in the 2027 presidential race. Jalang’o, a member of parliament from Lang’ata, dismissed Sifuna’s political strategy as unclear and lacking the necessary organisation to compete seriously. The analyst argued that Sifuna has not demonstrated the ability to build a strong campaign infrastructure or mobilise support effectively.
The criticism comes amid ongoing political tensions in Kenya’s capital. Sifuna, who has been a prominent figure in Nairobi’s political landscape, has not yet officially announced his candidacy for the 2027 election. However, his presence at public events and interactions with security personnel have drawn attention. A recent incident at Kisumu airport, where a female security guard was seen accompanying Sifuna, sparked discussions about gender roles and public trust in political figures.
Political observers note that Sifuna’s focus on higher office has not translated into clear policy proposals or a defined campaign strategy. Meanwhile, other politicians are positioning themselves for the upcoming election. Winnie Odinga, a political activist, recently announced her bid for a Nairobi Senate seat, referencing Sifuna’s ambitions as an opportunity to influence the capital’s political direction.
The 2027 presidential race is expected to be highly competitive, with several prominent figures vying for the presidency. Sifuna’s political trajectory remains uncertain as he continues to navigate the complex landscape of Kenyan politics.
