President William Ruto inaugurated the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Moiben Campus in Uasin Gishu County on October 12, 2026. The event marks the first expansion of the institution beyond Nairobi. In a statement shared on X, Ruto emphasized the campus’s role in training instructors who will equip young Kenyans with practical skills. The new campus aims to enhance technical education and support national development goals.

The Moiben Campus will focus on delivering high-quality vocational training programs tailored to local industry needs. It will offer courses in fields such as engineering, agriculture, and information technology. The government has allocated significant funding to ensure the campus is equipped with modern facilities and experienced faculty. This initiative aligns with Kenya’s broader strategy to reduce youth unemployment and promote economic growth through skilled labor.

The TVET program has been a key component of Kenya’s education reform since the early 2000s. Initially concentrated in Nairobi, the expansion to Uasin Gishu reflects the government’s effort to decentralize education and improve access for rural populations. The new campus is expected to serve thousands of students annually, providing them with the skills needed to enter the workforce. This development underscores Kenya’s commitment to investing in human capital and sustainable development.
