Kenyans returning to Kenya for Christmas are required to undergo mandatory Ebola screening at airports, according to new regulations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced the measure following increased cases of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Travelers arriving from the DRC must register with the ministry and undergo health checks.
The requirement applies to all Kenyan citizens returning from the DRC, regardless of travel destination. Health officials say the screening aims to prevent the spread of the virus within Kenya. The measure follows recent outbreaks in the region and heightened concerns about cross-border transmission.
This is the second time Kenya has implemented such measures since the outbreak began. Previous screenings were conducted in 2022, but the current rules are more stringent. The government has also increased awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the risks of Ebola and how to stay safe. The new policy is part of broader efforts to control the spread of infectious diseases.
