The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a warning to Kenyans about the approaching deadline for the Tax Amnesty Programme. The programme, which offers a 100 per cent waiver on eligible penalties, interest, and fines, is set to expire in 60 days.

A notice issued on November 1, 2026, urged individuals and businesses with outstanding tax obligations to file their returns promptly. The KRA emphasized that the amnesty period is limited and that delays could result in full liability for penalties and interest.

The Tax Amnesty Programme was launched to encourage voluntary compliance with tax laws. It allows taxpayers to settle their debts without facing the full consequences of non-payment. The initiative has been in place for several years, with previous deadlines set for earlier dates.

The current deadline marks the final opportunity for taxpayers to benefit from the waiver. The KRA has been actively promoting the programme through public awareness campaigns and outreach to businesses.

This is the third time the programme has been extended, reflecting the KRA’s ongoing efforts to improve tax compliance. The agency has noted that while some taxpayers have taken advantage of the amnesty, others have yet to act. The final deadline is expected to increase the number of participants.
