The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has extended the annual income tax filing deadline for individual taxpayers. Previously, taxpayers had to submit their returns by June 30, but the new deadline is April 30, 2027.
The change comes after amendments to the Finance Act 2026, which modified the long-standing tax filing rules. The KRA announced the update to provide more time for taxpayers to complete their returns. The new deadline applies to all individual taxpayers who file their annual income tax returns.
This adjustment follows a broader effort to improve tax compliance and reduce the burden on citizens. The KRA has emphasized that the change aims to align with international standards and improve the overall tax administration system. The revised deadline is set to take effect from January 1, 2027.
