Kenyans are increasingly turning to side jobs to cope with the worsening housing crisis, according to a recent survey. The report shows that 55 percent of respondents are engaging in additional work to cover housing costs. Many are also cutting back on spending to remain housed.

The survey, conducted by Habitat, highlights the financial strain on households. Over 88 percent of Kenyans believe their housing situation will improve within three years. However, the current reality remains challenging. Many families are making significant personal sacrifices to stay in their homes.

The housing crisis in Kenya has been growing for years. Rising property prices and limited availability have forced many to seek alternative income sources. The government has not yet introduced substantial reforms to address the issue. As a result, the pressure on individuals continues to mount.
