Kenya's electricity generation continued to grow year-on-year over the five-year period from 2021/22 to 2025/26. Output increased from 12,652.74 GWh in the first year to 13,289.75 GWh in the final year. The trend shows a consistent upward movement in the country's energy production.
The increase reflects ongoing investments in renewable energy sources and infrastructure development. Kenya has been expanding its hydro, geothermal, and solar power capacity to meet rising demand. The government has set targets to increase electricity access and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
Kenya's energy strategy has focused on diversifying its power mix to ensure stability and sustainability. Recent projects include the expansion of the Lake Turkana Wind Power plant and the development of new geothermal sites. These efforts aim to support economic growth and improve living standards across the country.
