FKF officials McDonald Mariga and six National Executive Committee members were expelled during a Special General Meeting in Meru. The decision followed allegations of repeated violations of the Federation’s constitution and FIFA regulations. The meeting, held under heavy police presence, saw Mariga and the six members voted out unanimously.
Mariga had fallen out with FKF President Hussein Mohammed after the 2025 CHAN finals in Nairobi. The expulsion came amid tensions that escalated during the meeting. Police were deployed to maintain order as the proceedings unfolded.
The meeting was disrupted before it began when RDU officers used tear gas, forcing a delay. FKF officials condemned the incident, calling it a disruption to the process. The expelled officials faced charges related to their conduct within the federation.
This marks a significant moment in FKF governance, highlighting internal conflicts and the enforcement of disciplinary measures. The removal of Mariga and the six NEC members reflects a broader effort to address misconduct within the organization. The situation underscores the challenges of maintaining discipline and order in high-stakes sports governance.
