The Kenya Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a digital system allowing diplomats and foreign nationals to obtain police clearance certificates without traveling to physical offices. The service, introduced at the Diplomatic Police Unit (DPU) Headquarters, enables diplomats, foreign nationals, and staff of international missions to apply for Police Clearance Certificates online.
The new initiative eliminates the need for individuals to visit DCI Headquarters or Huduma Centres in person. This change follows a broader effort to modernize public services and improve accessibility for the diplomatic community. The system allows for faster processing and greater convenience, particularly for those frequently visiting Kenya for official or diplomatic purposes.
Previously, diplomatic personnel had to travel to designated offices to submit applications and wait for manual processing. The digital rollout reflects the DCI’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance service delivery. The move aligns with Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda, which seeks to streamline administrative processes and reduce bureaucratic hurdles. The system is expected to improve efficiency and support the growing diplomatic presence in the country.
