Residents in Kilifi have accused the county’s health system of failing to provide timely emergency care, citing deaths linked to prolonged system outages. Sharon Baya, a resident of Magarini, reported that some patients died while waiting for the system to resume operations. The SHS (Safaricom Health Services) system, which connects hospitals and clinics, experienced repeated technical failures, disrupting critical care services. Local health workers confirmed that the outages forced hospitals to delay treatments, particularly for trauma and maternal cases. The situation has raised serious concerns about the reliability of the health infrastructure in the region. Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the matter. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in healthcare access in rural areas.
