Kenyan motorists have criticized Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir for his repeated explanations about delays in completing the Rironi-Naivasha dual carriageway. The Motorists Association of Kenya has expressed doubt over his claims of bitumen shortages and disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz. The association argues that these justifications fail to address the ongoing issues affecting road construction.
The association has raised concerns that the frequent changes to the project timeline have left drivers frustrated and uncertain. Members of the group have emphasized that they are more concerned with the progress on the ground than with official narratives. The delay has impacted daily commutes and transportation logistics across the region.
The Rironi-Naivasha road project, which aims to improve connectivity between Nairobi and Naivasha, has faced multiple setbacks since its inception. Previous delays were attributed to funding issues and logistical challenges. However, the current situation has intensified public scrutiny over the government’s ability to manage large-scale infrastructure projects. The association is calling for greater transparency and accountability in the management of the project.
