A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested in Nairobi following the murder of a US national in Garissa. The suspect was located in a Nairobi hideout months after the incident. The victim, Osman Aweys Abdi, was killed during a robbery in Garissa.
The arrest comes after a months-long investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Authorities confirmed the suspect was apprehended in a Nairobi location. The case is under active review by law enforcement.
The DCI has been focusing on criminal activities linked to security threats, including goonism and misinformation, ahead of the 2027 General Election. Officials have emphasized the need for stronger measures to maintain public safety and prevent unrest. This arrest is part of broader efforts to address criminal elements in the region.
