Detectives in Nairobi have arrested three individuals and recovered 32 suspected stolen mobile phones during a recent operation. The operation targeted individuals involved in the illegal trade of stolen devices. Authorities identified the suspects through surveillance and forensic analysis. The recovered phones were seized from multiple locations across the city.
This is the second major operation of its kind in Nairobi this year. Last month, police also recovered over 50 stolen devices in a similar raid. The current operation follows a rise in reported thefts in the city’s commercial areas. Officials have warned that the illegal trade of stolen phones continues to thrive due to weak enforcement.
Nairobi has seen a surge in mobile phone thefts over the past two years, with many cases linked to organized networks. Law enforcement has increased patrols in high-risk areas, but challenges remain in tracking down and prosecuting offenders. The latest operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat cybercrime and theft in the city.
