Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna launched his political party, Equitable Party, in Nairobi on October 4. The event marked the beginning of his campaign for the 2027 presidential election. Sifuna, who is also a senator, was named the party’s leader by its founders, who are restructuring the organization to support his presidential bid.
Key political figures attended the launch, including MP Babu Owino, who endorsed Sifuna. Other attendees included governors, senators, and lawmakers. The event was seen as a strategic move to build political alliances ahead of the 2027 election.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, a senior opposition leader, warned Sifuna that the challenges of his presidential journey are just beginning. Khalwale urged Sifuna to engage with other opposition leaders to strengthen his position. The remarks came during the party’s official unveiling in Nairobi.
Sifuna’s political party aims to position him as a credible candidate for the 2027 election. The launch follows a period of political restructuring within the party, with its founders aligning their efforts behind Sifuna’s leadership. The event underscores the growing political ambitions of Nairobi-based lawmakers ahead of the next presidential cycle.
