The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a formal notice demanding 623 million Kenyan shillings from former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko. The amount includes 308.9 million in principal tax, 15.8 million in penalties, and 298.7 million in interest.
The notice was sent to Sonko, who previously served as governor of Nairobi County. The KRA has directed him to clear the outstanding arrears. The total sum represents a significant financial obligation.
Sonko, a former political leader, is now facing a legal and financial challenge from the tax authority. This action follows previous attempts by the KRA to collect unpaid taxes. The case highlights ongoing efforts by the tax authority to enforce compliance with tax laws.
