Residents in Kirinyaga County can now obtain good conduct certificates in minutes thanks to a new biometric identification system at Kerugoya Huduma Centre. The system, introduced in collaboration with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), streamlines the process of obtaining police clearance certificates. Applicants previously faced long delays, but the new system has cut processing time significantly.
The biometric system also extends to the Diplomatic Police Unit, where it allows diplomats and foreign nationals to apply for police clearance locally. This change eliminates the need for applicants to travel to DCI headquarters or Huduma Centres. The service is designed to improve efficiency and convenience for both local residents and international staff.
The initiative marks a step forward in Kenya’s efforts to modernize its criminal investigation processes. By integrating biometric technology, the DCI aims to enhance security and reduce administrative burdens. The system is part of broader digital reforms aimed at improving public services. The implementation at Huduma Centres and diplomatic units reflects a growing emphasis on technology-driven solutions in government operations.
