President William Ruto visited a church in Mwingi, Kitui County, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, during his four-day development tour of the Ukambani region. The visit followed his first day in Machakos County, where he launched the Mwala Cluster Water Supply Project.
Ruto attended a service at AIC Kasina, a local church, as part of his engagement with communities. The tour includes multiple stops across Machakos and Kitui counties. On Saturday, he had already commissioned Phase Two of the Mwala Cluster Last Mile Water Supply Project in Mbiuni, Mwala Constituency.
The development tour comes amid political tensions ahead of the 2027 elections. Ruto has been actively engaging with local leaders and communities, emphasizing infrastructure and water projects. During his visit to Machakos, he praised Kalonzo Musyoka, a political rival, calling him “truthful” and “my friend.”
This tour reflects Ruto’s strategy to strengthen his political base in the region. The water projects aim to improve access to clean water in rural areas. The Mwala Cluster project, now in its second phase, is part of broader efforts to enhance public services.
The Ukambani region, known for its agricultural and pastoral communities, has been a focus of Ruto’s administration. His visits highlight the government’s commitment to regional development and political outreach. The timing of the tour suggests a deliberate effort to bolster his image ahead of the upcoming elections.
