A building in Eastleigh collapsed late Tuesday, trapping at least 20 people inside. Rescue teams worked through the night to locate and extract survivors. Excavators and sniffer dogs were deployed to clear debris and search for trapped individuals.
The incident occurred in a residential area of Eastleigh, a town in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Initial reports indicated the collapse happened during the evening, with several families inside the structure. Emergency services, including the National Disaster Response Team, were quickly dispatched to the scene.
This is the second major structural collapse in Eastleigh this year. Last month, a similar incident in a nearby neighborhood led to the deaths of three people and injuries to over 15. Authorities have since called for stricter building regulations and increased inspections. The current operation is ongoing, with no immediate reports of fatalities.
