Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna launched his new political party, the Equitable Party, on October 5, 2026. The event was attended by key governors, senators, and several lawmakers. The party’s formation follows the restructuring of its founding organization, with Sifuna positioned as its leader. His presidential bid for the 2027 General Election has received backing from the party’s founders.

Political adviser Peter Mbae, who works with the Democracy for Citizens Party, stated that the political legacy of late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is increasingly influencing Sifuna’s political movement. Mbae made the remark during an interview on K24’s Morning Breakfast Show. He suggested that Sifuna is carrying forward Raila’s political spirit in his new initiative.

Sifuna’s new party has drawn support from prominent figures in Kenyan politics. MP Babu Owino publicly endorsed Sifuna at the launch. The event marked a significant step in Sifuna’s political career, positioning him as a rising figure in the country’s political landscape. His move comes amid ongoing political realignments and the anticipation of the 2027 elections.
