Manda Airstrip in Lamu is being upgraded to accommodate the upcoming groundbreaking ceremony for the East African oil refinery. The facility is set to host dignitaries and officials as part of the project’s launch.
The Kenya Airways Authority has completed key rehabilitation works at the airstrip, ensuring it is ready to handle the increased activity. The upgrades include improved infrastructure and enhanced facilities to support the event.
Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote, who is backing the refinery, has emphasized the importance of listing the project on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. He believes African companies should raise capital from local investors.
The refinery is expected to play a major role in the region’s energy sector, boosting economic development and regional cooperation. The event marks a significant step in the project’s timeline.
