President William Ruto convened over 5,000 delegates from Kenya’s 47 counties at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The event, part of the Vision 2060 initiative, brought together leaders and stakeholders to discuss the country’s long-term development goals. Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o of Kisumu, who chairs a committee tasked with shaping the vision, participated in the discussions.

Nyong’o emphasized the need to keep the Vision 2060 conversation separate from political agendas. He urged citizens to focus on national progress rather than linking the dialogue to upcoming elections. His remarks came during the launch of the National Conversation: Beyond 2030, a platform aimed at outlining Kenya’s future direction.

The gathering highlighted the government’s commitment to inclusive planning, with representatives from various sectors contributing to the vision. The event marked a key step in shaping Kenya’s strategic roadmap for the next decades.
