Rescue teams have removed 85 per cent of the rubble from the collapsed building in Eastleigh, Kenya, as the search for survivors enters its seventh day. The operation, ongoing since the incident, has focused on clearing debris from the site to improve access and visibility for rescuers.
The building, located in the heart of Eastleigh, collapsed on Monday, trapping several people inside. Emergency services have been working around the clock to locate and extract any remaining survivors. Local authorities have confirmed that the majority of the rubble has now been cleared, allowing for more efficient search operations.
This is not the first incident of its kind in Eastleigh. In 2022, a similar collapse in the same area resulted in multiple casualties and sparked calls for improved building safety regulations. The current situation has once again raised concerns about the structural integrity of older buildings in the region. Authorities are now reviewing building codes and safety protocols to prevent future tragedies.
