The number of mortgage loans in Kenya has increased significantly, with total lending rising by Sh27.9 billion over the past year. This growth reflects a growing trend among Kenyans seeking home financing. The increase comes as more individuals and families look to secure housing through loans.
The total number of mortgages in the market also rose, climbing by 2.5 per cent to 30,762 loans. This marks an increase from the 30,016 loans recorded in 2024. The rise in mortgage activity suggests a stronger demand for home ownership in the country.
Experts note that economic stability and improved access to financial services have contributed to the upward trend. As more Kenyans opt for home financing, the real estate sector is expected to see continued growth. The increase highlights a shift in consumer behavior and financial planning in Kenya.
