Kenya has announced it will begin releasing the first individuals placed under quarantine following the confirmation of its first Ebola case. Health authorities aim to reassure the public that all confirmed infections remain connected to the initial case. Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth confirmed the release will occur after individuals have completed their mandatory isolation period.

A total of 135 people linked to Patient Zero have been identified as potential contacts. Of these, 126 are being monitored in institutional quarantine, while the remaining nine are under observation outside Kenya. Dr Amoth emphasized the importance of continued monitoring to prevent further spread. The outbreak response has intensified with increased testing and contact tracing efforts.

This follows a growing concern over the spread of the virus within the country. Kenya has been working closely with international health organizations to manage the situation. The release of quarantined individuals marks a key step in the containment strategy. Health officials remain cautious, stressing the need for ongoing vigilance. The first cases were confirmed in late October 2026, prompting immediate action to control the outbreak.
