The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has warned that rising food, fuel, and transport costs will continue to drive inflation higher through November 2026. The CBK’s September 2026 Market Perceptions Survey indicates that these pressures will sustain elevated price levels.

The survey highlights that higher food and fuel expenses are expected to remain a key factor in inflation. Businesses have also raised concerns that increased transport and energy costs will further strain household budgets. The current inflation rate stood at 6.8 percent in September, marking a rise from previous months.

This trend follows a pattern of persistent inflation in Kenya, driven by global commodity price fluctuations and domestic economic challenges. The CBK’s warning underscores the ongoing impact of rising living costs on both consumers and businesses. The bank has emphasized the need for continued monitoring of economic indicators to manage inflationary pressures effectively.
