A drone strike in the Tigray region of Ethiopia killed nine internally displaced people, including a mother and her days-old baby, according to local reports. The attack in Shiraro left at least 14 others injured. Separate drone strikes in Adwa reportedly killed several more.
The attacks come amid renewed fighting in the region, where conflict has been ongoing since 2020. Local media and witnesses described the drone strikes as part of a broader escalation of violence. The victims were reportedly civilians, including women and children.
The conflict in Tigray has drawn international attention, with humanitarian organizations warning of worsening conditions. Reports indicate that displaced people are increasingly vulnerable to attacks as they remain in makeshift camps. The Ethiopian government and regional forces have been engaged in a protracted conflict, with sporadic clashes and aerial operations. The latest strikes highlight the continued risks faced by civilians in the area.
