Babu Owino, leader of Nairobi’s political faction, has ruled out rivalry with Winnie Odinga ahead of the 2027 political contest. Owino stated that both candidates should pursue their political ambitions independently, leaving the decision to voters.

Owino emphasized that Nairobi residents should choose between him and Odinga based on their preferences. He said Odinga should be allowed to focus on her political goals while he works toward his own.

In a separate statement, Owino criticized Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, comparing him to the third servant in the biblical parable of the talents. He accused Sakaja of mismanaging county resources.

Owino’s comments come amid heightened political activity in Nairobi ahead of the 2027 elections. Both Odinga and Owino are seen as strong contenders for leadership in the city.

The political landscape in Nairobi remains competitive, with multiple factions vying for influence. Owino’s stance signals a focus on cooperation over competition in the run-up to the elections.
