Babu Owino, member of parliament for Embakasi East, has reaffirmed his commitment to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna despite growing tensions within the Linda Mwananchi movement. Owino stated that the disagreement over the political party to carry the movement into the 2027 general election does not affect his personal relationship with Sifuna.

Rigathi Gachagua, a prominent political figure, has called on both Sifuna and Owino to address rising tensions among their supporters. Gachagua reportedly spoke separately with each leader, urging them to manage the situation before it escalates further.

Gachagua also accused President William Ruto of using the National Security Council and the National Intelligence Service to weaken the Linda Mwananchi coalition. He warned that such actions could undermine the movement’s unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The political rift has sparked concerns about the stability of the coalition, with some fearing it could impact the movement’s effectiveness in the upcoming electoral cycle. Owino’s stance highlights the complexity of maintaining alliances amid internal disagreements.
